The last couple of days have been spent being a little bit reduced and moving stuff into a new apartment. Going through IKEA has been one aspect of it, and thus collecting IKEA furniture is another. Yesterday I was putting a closet together when I saw that we had bought the wrong set of sides for it. Because we don't have a car I decided to just put on my running shoes and go get the parts needed.
Glorified scenario: This was going to be an easy 8k run that would be over in a jiffy. I would run down there, buy the right parts and then run back without effort whatsoever. Sure, I imagined that my grip would be a little more tired on the way back, but I would still dominate.
What really happened: I got to IKEA and found out they had another small item they previously didn't have in stock and decided to bring that too. Somehow managing to stick that small item down my running jacket I started running. It didn't last long though. I had a nice pace for about 500 meters before I totally capitulated. The struggle was real, my grip was burning and the long packages was bobbing up and down. I had to walk all the way back, resigned but still happy for going in the first place.
