It's certainly nice to get back to training again. Yesterday I went to Fitness World for a two hour bike ride. Not a particular long ride, but long enough to get my body off from burning carbs and over to using fat as fuel.
Getting thinner is not my goal for this type of exercise, but rather to expand the glucose storage capacity in my body while also making my movements more economical. The longer the glucose storage can fuel my trainings, the longer I can keep a higher aerobic pace when racing. The more repetitions my body gets of a movement, the better my body gets at that specific movement. The result is using less energy with a bigger energy storage.
Biking a mere two hours though is not something that will help me improve too much in the long run. Longer rides are necessary, but indoor sessions are extremely boring and tedious. Right now I have an audiobook helping me through the rut, but I realised yesterday that there might be a possibility of prolonging the session with a spinning class if I train at that time again. Hopefully I'll take that opportunity or find a different solution in order to get some longer rides done until I get outside, where longer rides are easy and fun.
