Friday's run around Hindsgavl was spectacular. I really didn't have a plan when I came there and was running mostly on impulse when deciding where to go. As you'll see on the Strava session below I started over by the parking lot outside the castle grounds and went straight towards the water. I wanted to save running around the castle for last, closer to when the sun was going down.
But first I ended up at a small frozen lake to look at a large number of deer eating grass and enjoying the sunny weather. They were all very aware of me and looked my way all the time. I'm glad I didn't spook them when I got close.
After I'd taken some shots of the deer around the lake I ran down to the sea. I had checked the place out on google maps and was interested in a small dock that was reaching out into the water. I saw this as a great photo opportunity, but when I got there the dock was closed off because it was unsafe. I walked a little bit further out and found another dock that was even more broken and took pictures there instead. Would've been nice to have a tripod here, but I managed to put the camera on some leaves and driftwood.
Further along the water I found a small hill that I climbed, and on the top I found ruins of an old castle from the 1600s. This place was very spectacular and gave a nice overview out towards the sea, so I can't argue with the logic of building a castle there. It's a shame that it's gone now though.
Further along the water I found several places that was really fun to run. I ran up and down, and from side to side, on small paths and on big forest roads. In the middle of the forest five giant deer with huge antlers appeared. I'll probably remember this day forever because of these beautiful animals. They were off quickly though, and I never got to take my Nikon out to take some shots.
After my encounter of the animal kind I had to get back to the castle. I was running away from the sun and I wanted to see the sunset by the water. I got back just as the sun was dipping behind the horizon and luckily got this shot before it disappeared. I didn't get a shot of the castle though, so if you want to see more you'll have to check out the video at the bottom of article.
Great run! Thumbs up guarantee!
