It seems like my goal to complete a half marathon under 1:40 has been very conservative. In order to do so I would have to run at a 4:44 pace for the entire length of the race.
After yesterdays test of half marathon pace I'm sure I will manage to get well below 1:40. I'm glad I realized this now, so that I can train more race pace and maybe manage to push myself a little bit further before the rest period.
Yesterday's run was awful, but not because of a high heart rate. I started running too close to dinner, and were close to vomiting it all out again. I still managed to run faster than I have ever run before on my 12k lap. Although the pace were a little bit too low for my liking, I have to take into account the number of hills, and the twists and turns that are present on the route.
Lillebælt half marathon will be hilly, but a lot straighter than the route I ran yesterday, and it seems to me that running with a goal of getting closer to 1:30 should be on my agenda for the next weeks. This would result in a pace below 4:16 per kilometer.
