Wow, that was a long day of travel. It started in Copenhagen at 4.30 am CET and ended in San Jose at 4 pm PDT. On the way we experience both ups and downs on our way abroad.
We started at 4.30 am from the hotel in Copenhagen, and were happy that the check in and everything leading up to the flight went flawlessly.
Our seats were not the best, and we were considering paying for an upgrade until we saw the entertainment system. It was stacked with lots of movies and tv-series, enough to fill the time it took to fly over there.
The flight went okay, we sporadically slept throughout the flight and watched a lot of movies together.
The troubles came after we landed. We thought we had credit cards, but apparently we didn't. Our entire car rental had to be cancelled because the rental car company needed to have a deposit from a credit card.
Luckily we met a very nice man who helped us out, so that we could make another booking and be on our way. The entire thing is stupid and definitely a bad system that hinders more than it helps, but we have learned an important lesson and will not do the same mistake again.
We were on the brink of going down at that moment, it was closing in on midnight for us and we needed food. The first intersection on the highway was right next to an in-n-out, so we stopped there to get some food, before we headed out in traffic again.
Traffic was so slow while driving through Silicon Valley that our 45 minute drive turned out to be closer to 1h 30 minutes long.
Both of us were a little silent at this moment, and we hoped that the hotel didn't turned out to be bad as well.
We finally got out of traffic and saw the miles go away faster and faster on our GPS. Our hotel was nice and we ended up being super happy about how it looked and how quickly and flawless the check in process was.
The rest of the day was spent swimming in the pool, eating sushi and ramen at a local restaurant, and trying our best to stay awake as long as possible. At the end of the day our bed welcomed us with open arms as we barely got our clothes off before sleeping.
