For weeks now I have been preparing for when my training regime will start. I have steadily built up my strength and have completed between 5-9 hours of training the last weeks. My biking is going better and better and my running injuries are being taken care of. One thing that isn’t going perfectly according to plan is the swimming.
I love swimming and try to get two passes every week, but the sessions are not as good as they can be. A part of the reason is that I really don’t know what I’m doing. Getting a coach that can guide me and help me improve is really important. the other part of it is because of what I have du endure every time I swim.
I know that I am annoying when I swim. I swim faster than the normal guy, and they still have just as much right to be there as I do. I try to do my best to not interfere with other peoples training, but I’m also sure that people still find me just as annoying as I find them.
Depending on who is in the pool at any given time there is a huge possibility that I will quit my training several intervals earlier than planned, just because of other people. When my neighborhood pool is filled to the brim with senior residents and they only reserve one lane for the faster swimmers it’s clear that there are more bad days than good ones.
There is a limit to how many slaps and kicks I can take from other people, and if I am to continue swimming and improving I really need to eliminate as much of the negativity associated with it as possible.
This is why I need to join the local triathlon club. For a much smaller fee I’ll get as many swimming practices I want per week, with qualified coaching and with people swimming the same pace or better than myself. Even though I really like to swim in the morning I’ll have to join in on their schedule for late night swimming. That opens up a possibility for having a running session in the morning hours. Gotta see the positive!
